Hamburg - Hamburg has received fDi Intelligence’s City of the Future award at the MIPIM real estate conference in Cannes. The German port city topped the larger cities category in the ranking of 370 cities for its focus on innovation, high standard of living and dynamic economic scene.

Hamburg has been honored as one of the “European Cities and Regions of the Future 2023” at the MIPIM real estate conference, which took place in Cannes from 14 to 17 March. The relocations agency Hamburg Invest accepted the fDi Intelligence award on behalf of the German port city after it topped the “larger cities” category in the ranking, according to the platform Hamburg News.  

"The 'City of the Future' award is confirmation of our work and sends an attractive signal to international investors," commented Dr Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest. The article writes that Hamburg is focusing increasingly on innovation and investments in renewable energy while ensuring a high standard of living, which “benefits visitors, companies, talented professionals, skilled labour and investors and is reflected by great developments in many technology and knowledge-based industries and clusters”.

The European Cities and Regions of the Future 2023 ranking benchmarked the most promising investment destinations across Europe, including 370 European cities. They were ranked according to economic potential, business friendliness, connectivity, cost effectiveness, human capital and lifestyle. em
