Switzerland is participating in City-Tech.Tokyo on 27 and 28 February. It aims to establish itself as a key player in the areas of innovation and sustainability at the international event, which is organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and aims to realize sustainable cities through open innovation with startups, according to a statement. The Swiss booth will showcase “Swiss Made Innovation” with two ventures, Flyability and ZESST by Almatech. The booth is supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan, Switzerland Innovation and the Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka, Swissnex in Japan.
Flyability is a spinoff from the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) that develops indoor drone solutions for the inspection and exploration of indoor, inaccessible and confined spaces. Almatech is an SME located in the Innovation Park of the EPFL. With ZESST, it produces zero-emission speed shuttles, which are fast hydrogen-powered ferries that fly on smart hydrofoils.
“Each venture creates new opportunities for more SDGs-oriented cities and societies,” writes the statement. It adds that, built around the framework of Vitality.Swiss and Swisstech, the presence at the booth will “serve to establish Switzerland as a key player in the areas of innovation and sustainability”. em
