Egypt’s New Administrative Capital has awarded a tender to implement smart transportation and traffic systems across the city. It was won by technology specialists Giza Systems, who will deploy big data and adaptive traffic technology to address the mobility challenges facing urban areas.

Egypt has launched a Smart Transport and Traffic Systems project to solve the current challenges and obstacles facing cities. Giza Systems, a leading systems integrator in the Middle East and Africa, has won the tender to implement smart transportation and traffic systems in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), according to an article from Daily News Egypt.

It will be the first integrated model of its kind in Egypt, said Mohamed Khalil, Head of Technology and Systems at the Administrative Capital for Urban Development, in the article. The aim is to develop a model that can be used in new cities worldwide to reduce congestion, ensure a quick response to traffic accidents and ensure the implementation of traffic laws, among others.

Giza Systems will integrate different smart systems and functions under one platform, explained Giza Systems Sales Manager Ahmed Abdel Azim. He said that big data and adaptive traffic technology can “generate traffic data to feed an intelligent dynamic traffic system that is capable of responding to incidents and predicting future events to manage traffic more safely and effectively”.
