Ebbsfleet – A scheme described as one of the most carbon-reducing projects in Ebbsfleet Garden City in the UK has been approved. Measures will include solar panels, sustainable drainage and electric vehicle charging points.

A UK government initiative for sustainable housing has approved one of its most carbon-reducing projects to date. Ebbsfleet Garden City has approved 133 new homes at Ebbsfleet Green, bringing the total number to 783. There are now nearly 2,000 homes in the Garden City with more than 4,500 residents.

The homes will feature solar panels, sustainable drainage, and electric vehicle charging points, according to a statement. The proposed development will also incorporate several relevant energy conservation measures, including improved air tightness and high performance building fabrics and glazing, and 100 per cent low energy lighting.

As well as carbon-reducing measures, there are plans to promote healthy lifestyles with open space for walking and cycling, a new park and a tree-lined road layout. When complete, Ebbsfleet Green will also benefit from a community hall, 3G sports pitch, two tennis courts, community allotments and five play areas.
